Jem

6/19 update - Jem went to the vet's this week for his second puppy shot and he weighs 8 lbs now!  He is scheduled for his neuter on July 8th and will be available for adoption after July 10th.

Please read our Puppy Policies for more information!

If you are still interested in adoption, please fill out our online application.

6/9 UPDATE - Jem was not able to be neutered on 6/8, we are waiting until he is 12 weeks old.  We are currently accepting applications for Jem and will be reviewing them soon!

Little Jem is learning something new everyday!  He has now learned to go up and downstairs.  He is pretty proud of himself too!  We are trying to get him in the crate but he is not too happy when that happens.  He will do better being gated which is good for a little puppy.  He is going outside regularly but is still needs lots of work - he is only 9 weeks old so please keep that in mind.  Jem will need lots of attention and we are hoping for another little dog to keep him company and play with him too.

6/3 update -  Jem is scheduled for his neuter on 6/8.  We are waiting to see what that is   going to cost before we set his adoption fee. (undescended testicles in puppies is common but more expensive to neuter them)He is a whooping 6 1/2 pounds now and getting cuter by the day!  Jem has learned stairs and is starting to potty outside.  He has a long way to go on his housetraining but he is just a puppy and that is to be expected.  Jem is very playful and likes lots of attention and will let you know when he feels he is not getting enough of yours.

This little fuzz ball is Jem.  He is 8 weeks old now and 5 1/2 pounds!  Jem is a cute little mix of Maltese and Poodle.  Jem was brought into rescue at a very young age, too young to be away from his real mom so he is a bit 'needy' and wants to be around you all the time.  He does love to play with the other young pups here and has a lot of fun running in the yard.  He is a pretty happy go lucky little boy!

Jem is a baby so he is NOT housetrained or leash trained.   He is going to need time and patience to learn these skills.   We are going to be looking for a home where someone is home alot and preferably has a fenced yard.  NO ELECTRIC FENCES.  He should also have another small dog to keep him company and teach him the way of the world!  He needs someone to play with him and keep him busy so he doesn't get into trouble.  We will not adopt to anyone under the age of 25 or students.  Your life is just too hectic and unpredictable to care for a puppy.

Jem's freedom needed to be bought so he would not end up in the cruelworld of puppymills or backyard breeders.  He still needs to be neutered, brought up to date on all age appropriate shots and microchipped which will be happening in the upcoming weeks.  Please understand that we need to take all of that into consideration with his adoption fee.  Not only do we need to cover his vetting and what we paid for him, but we have other little ones that need additional care.  But you are getting a happy healthy neutered, vaccinated, microchipped malti-poo!

If you are interested in adopting Jem, please fill out an application online under forms.  He is not available until June 15th and we will not be contacting anyone until June 10th.     We know that this little guy is going to be popular and get a lot of attention so please understand that we just cannot answer emails about him or the status of the application!
