![]() Meet Gita! She is a sweet 2-year-old mixed breed, likely part Chihuahua, and she weighs just 14 pounds. Gita has been through a tough time but is ready to find her forever home. She originally came from a hoarding situation in Wisconsin and later made her way to Texas with an owner who didn’t truly appreciate her. Sadly, Gita was found in a gated cemetery, where she was left with just a crate and a blanket. When her microchip was scanned and her owner was contacted, the owner claimed that Gita had simply run away. Because they never really bonded, they didn’t even look for her. It seems they forgot she was microchipped! Thankfully, our wonderful rescue partners took her in, and now Gita is looking for a loving family that will cherish her and give her the home she deserves. She’s ready to share her love and joy with you! Gita has made amazing strides during her time in her foster home! Her confidence is blossoming a little more each day. She's such a sweet and loving girl! While she might take a moment to warm up to you, once she does, she’ll be your best buddy. If she seems a bit shy at first, just a little baby talk will have her jumping for joy! One of the best things about Gita is that she can now walk on a leash—well, more like prance! We’d love for her to have a fully fenced yard because she likes lounging outside with her friends. She’s a big fan of playing and running around outdoors, so a nice yard would be perfect for her. (Just a little note: no invisible fences, please!) Gita would love to have a four-legged friend in her new home, but as long as she gets plenty of love and attention, she’ll be happy either way. She’s always been around other dogs, so she’s used to having playmates. Gita loves to wrestle and play with toys, and having another dog will help her build her confidence and trust. Plus, she gets along wonderfully with the cats in her foster home! When it comes to potty training, Gita is doing fantastic with regular outdoor breaks. Her foster mom thinks she’s basically housetrained, and if she has to, she’ll use potty pads. Just keep in mind that she hasn’t seen winter yet, so she may need a little time to adjust to new routines. Gita is such a good listener and loves to please! She enjoys snuggling with other small dogs and is definitely motivated by treats. We can’t wait for Gita to find her forever home—somewhere she’ll feel safe, loved, and cherished! She's ready to bring joy to someone special! We require that a martingale collar be used at the time of adoption. If you do not have a martingale collar, you can purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10. This requirement is in place to ensure the dog's safety and security. Gita is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and tested neg. for heartworm. She also had a Pro Heart 12 injection which provides heartworm prevention for a year. Gita's adoption fee is $450
