Gita's Sponsorship Page
![]() Please say hello to Gita! Gita is a 2-year-old mixed breed, likely part chihuahua, and she weighs 13 pounds. She has a sad backstory. Originally, she came from a hoarding situation in Wisconsin and ended up in Texas with her owner. Gita was later found in a gated cemetery, where she was left with just a crate and a blanket. When her microchip was scanned and her owner was contacted, she claimed that Gita had simply run away and, since she never really bonded with her, didn't bother looking for her. It seems she forgot that Gita was chipped when she dumped her! Thankfully, our rescue partners took her in, and now Gita is looking for a loving owner who will not treat her like trash. Gita is an absolutely sweet and loving girl! It might take her a little time to warm up to new faces, and we totally understand why—trusting new people can be tough, especially given her background. When you first pet her on the head, she might back away a bit, but all she really wants are those nice back & booty scratches! In her new home, Gita would need a fully fenced yard where she can feel safe and enjoy the sunshine. She really loves spending time outdoors! While she’s still a bit nervous about leashes, we’re helping her work through that, but a fenced yard (please, no invisible fences!) is essential for her happiness & safety. Gita would do best with a dog or two in her new home. She’s playful and enjoys wrestling and running around! They will also help her gain confidence and show her to trust. She also gets along with the cats in her foster home. When it comes to her potty training, she’s doing really well with lots of outside potty breaks. Just keep in mind she may need a little time to adjust as she learns her new routines. Gita is such a good listener and eager to please! She loves to snuggle up with other small dogs and is definitely motivated by treats. We can’t wait for Gita to find her forever home—somewhere she’ll feel safe, loved, and cherished for her unique personality! We require that a martingale collar be used at the time of adoption. If you do not have a martingale collar, you can purchase one from Pixie Mamas for an additional $10. This requirement is in place to ensure the dog's safety and security. Gita is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and tested neg. for heartworm. She also had a Pro Heart 12 injection which provides heartworm prevention for a year. Gita's adoption fee is $450
