Joey

Joey is officially up for adoption!

Joey successfully completed his Physical Therapy at Village Vet and is using his leg much more and it is so much stronger.  He will likely favor it for the rest of his life by lifting it up but much of that is out of habit.  Additional therapy would be good for him but not required.  Joey is still incontinent and will be for the rest of his life - both bowel and bladder.  He is a tiny boy so it is not too much of a bother and if you know Chihuahuas it happens regardless!   He can wear a belly band too.  Joey is a total lover.  He loves people and loves to be loved!  He walks well on a leash and is crate trained.  He is fine with other dogs and no issues with cats.  Joey likes to boss the bigger dogs around!  He is good with kids too.  Joey will need a special owner - one that can overlook his medical issues and see the wonderful little dog he is!

Joey's adoption fee is $350 - please apply on our website if you are interested.

Tiny little Joey - what a rough life he has had at barely 3 years old. Joey was found as a stray in Texas,  attacked by a bigger dog and lucky to be alive.  He was taken to a vet for help.  We are thankful he survived !  While he was at the vet, it was discovered that his hip was out of joint basically and needed FHO surgery.  ( A femoral head osteotomy, also referred to as a femoral head ostectomy or  FHO , is the  surgical  removal of the head and neck of the femur. In simpler terms, it is the removal of the “ball” part of the ball-and-socket that makes up the hip joint.)

Joey had the surgery in Texas and was also neutered there (he had undescended testicles - he has no luck at all!).  Joey is not using his leg and will need physical therapy.  We also believe that he is now incontinent, possibly from the attack.  Joey's vet bills are over $2000.  Any donation to help would be appreciated and will also help him live a better life.
