Contact Dixie's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Foster

This tiny girl is Dixie - she is a beautiful black & tan mini dachshund that came to us from a high kill shelter.  Dixie is affectionate, a typical doxie that loves to be on your lap or cuddling next to you.  She is leash trained but not good in a crate - she is also a dreaded gate jumper!  Miss Dixie does great going on the papers in this cold weather but will also go outside too.  Until it warms up I think she would prefer the papers! Dixie barks at the cats in the house and tends to chase them a bit - nothing major and it is correctable but it is something to be aware of.  Dixie likes women but it takes her a little bit to get used to men - typical of the breed too.  If she is given a little time, she is fine.

We believe Dixie is about 4 years old and now weighs 8.5 pounds.  Dixie was too thin to be spayed immediatly so we waited for her to gain a little weight and she now has an appointment to be fixed in mid March.  She will be brought up to date with her vaccines and microchipped too.  Her adoption fee is $200.  Please apply if you would like a little lap dog to keep you company and give you lots of love!
