Meet Stanley — Our Bulldog on the Mend

Stanley’s story is one of resilience and second chances. This handsome English Bulldog came to us as a local owner surrender — severely underweight, struggling with skin issues, and battling double cherry eyes that will require surgery. His previous owner worked long hours, and poor Stanley spent most of his days confined to a crate. The stress took its toll, leaving him anxious and unsure of the world around him.

When Stanley arrived, he had a lot to learn — how to climb stairs, how to walk on a leash (still a work in progress!), and most importantly, how to trust people again. He was sick with a respiratory infection that also affected his eyes, but with antibiotics, care, and patience, he began to heal.

We switched him to a salmon-based diet, and it’s been a game changer — his tummy troubles are gone, his coat is improving, and he’s finally putting on healthy weight. Stanley will be neutered in June, and we’re currently fundraising for his eye surgery, which will cost several thousand dollars. He may always have some vision loss, but that doesn’t stop him from learning how to be a dog — playing, cuddling, and soaking up love like he’s making up for lost time.

Stanley still has a way to go before he’s ready for adoption, but he’s on the right path — and every day, he reminds us what rescue is all about.
