Auggie is looking for his forever home! Auggie comes to us from Texas. He is a Chihuahua mix, mostly like a Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Daschund) and is estimated to be about 1 year old and weighs about 15 pounds.

Meet Auggie, a sweet and lovable pup who is just a bit shy but is gaining confidence every day! He’s on his way to becoming his true self, and with the right forever home, he’s ready to shine! When he meets new people, Auggie takes a moment to observe before making his approach. He’s been coming out of his shell while hanging out with his foster mom, following her around like a little shadow, curious about everything she does. If he ever feels uneasy, he’ll find a cozy spot to curl up away from you rather than showing aggression. And when he’s really scared, he might roll over on his back to show he means no harm.

Auggie is such a sweetheart! He loves to snuggle up in a little ball right next to you or create his own comfy bed in a pile of blankets. Just at 1 year old, he’s full of playful energy, often getting the zoomies or happily playing fetch with his favorite plush toy. He enjoys basking in the sun and is always excited when his foster mom comes home—his entire body wags with joy! Auggie can be quite the curious little guy, sometimes stealing socks or the mail to get your attention. He’s affectionate and ready to bring some silly fun into a relaxed home!

Being a shy pup, Auggie will need some time to adjust to new surroundings, but with plenty of positive reinforcement, treats, and cuddles, he’ll warm right up! He appreciates his space and will sweetly boop you on the hand or arm when he’s in the mood for some love, and he adores rolling on his back for tummy rubs. Auggie has a big appetite for snacks—his favorites are carrots and cheese! His morning routine is the best part of his day; after he comes out of his crate, he loves to stretch out on the bed and soak up some affection with little kisses and pets.

Auggie gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would really enjoy having a furry friend around, though it’s not a must. Thanks to lots of positive experiences, he’s made great progress with his house training and learned to sit like a champ in no time! A consistent routine helps him feel at ease, so just know that he may need a little time to find his groove in a new home. Auggie is currently working on his leash training and will do best in a fully fenced yard until he gets the hang of it.  He is also nicely crate trained and it helps keep him out of trouble!

Auggie has been treated for heartworm in Texas. He’ll need to be retested in six months, and it can take up to a year to test negative, so his heartworm medication will be a lifelong requirement. With some love and a bit of special care, Auggie is ready to find his forever family!

Auggie is neutered, up to date with vaccines, and microchipped.  He will come with a couple of months of heartworm prevention.  Auggie's adoption fee is $450
