11/15 - Miss Stella went to visit Bill & Andrea today and things went great!  She met her new Aunt and her kitties and the new neighbors.  Stella has an adoption pending right now!

11/9 - Stella update!  Stella is doing well and we are learning lots about this little lady.  She is doing better in a crate, but only for a few hours a day.  She cannot be left in one all day - no dog should be!  It should also be a bigger metal one not a plastic crate.  Stella likes to chew on things and has found all sorts of things to shred!  So if she is left alone for long periods of time and gets bored, guess what she will be doing!  She will need bully sticks and Kongs to keep her busy and lots of running around and playing to tire her out!  Stella really likes the other dogs and does better in a pack - even the shelter said this about her.  She does not do well alone.  She will need at least one other dog to keep her company (she loves Buffy, Heidi and Ian!!).  I think a fenced yard is always the best situation, especially for a dog like Stella.  She is not leash trained and will need work on this skill!
Stella is still a bit nervous, especially when she thinks she is in trouble.  She does not take long to warm up to people but it is going to take time for her to get used to a new situation.  Remember she was stuck in a shelter for 3 long months!
Stella is young and none of these things are hard as long as you are willing to be kind, loving and patient.  Stella has had tons of interest - we are waiting for the right situation for her so we know it will be last stop on the road to her Happily Ever After!

10/25/09 - Stella just arrived to our rescue and her foster family is starting to get to know her.  We are accepting applications and inquiries now but she will not be available until November 5.  We will have more updates so please check back!

Stella is a sweet young dachshund  - she may be mixed because her legs are a little longer but she is very much a doxie!  She is doing very well with the other dogs and likes to play.  She loves to be outside.  Stella does not mind our cats.  She is friendly and comes for her share of attention and loving, especially when you get  down on the floor.  This pretty girl would love another dog and some kids in her new home.
