Perla is a beautiful 3 year old tri colored chihuahua.  She is a local dog, coming in as a stray from our city shelter.  True to her breed, she loves nothing more than to find the perfect spot on the back of the couch to soak up all the sunshine she can get.  Of course, when she feels the time is right she will come down to demand, I mean ask for a belly rub, which is her second favorite thing in the world.

Perla is great on a leash and loves to go for walks.  She’s also great in the car and is always up to go for a ride.  She is crate trained and will put herself to bed when she’s ready.  She has been fostered with 2 large dogs and a cat and has no problems with any of them.  She is fine with smaller dogs also.  She can sometimes be playful and is not intimidated by any size difference.

Perla has been around children and we’ve found she’s just not comfortable with the younger ones so a home with older or no children would be best for her.

Perla is also very leery of being picked up.  You can do it, it just has to be on her terms.  That means she has to know it’s coming.  You can call her to you, sometimes she asks for it.  As long as you pick her up from the front she’s fine. You do not want to surprise her or pick her up from behind as she will snap and let you know that’s not acceptable.

Perla has been potty trained in her foster home but may have an accident as she transitions into her new home.  She prefers a well-manicured lawn as she is a low rider and doesn’t like to get her belly wet from the dew on the grass.

Overall, Perla has been a joy to foster.  She is a very low-key, low-maintenance, fun little dog that just wants a home of her own.  If you think Perla is the dog for you, please apply!

Perla is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She has also had a dental with extractions.  Her adoption fee is $400
