Learn more about the Shih Tzu. When we reach a certain age, it's all about comfort. We want simple things with no drama – you work your whole life to reach this point, and you deserve to relax! This is where Miles is right now. Miles is a 10-year-old Shih Tzu whose daily goal is to eat yummy food, binge-watch great TV, and have his belly rubbed. Can it get any better than this?? Life is good.
Miles came to t rescue when his parents were unable to care for him any longer. He is a local boy and fits in with the other foster dogs in his home right out of the gate. He LOVES to go on walks – just show him the leash, and this boy is all in! He has been doing magnificent with his housebreaking in his foster home…but once he gets into his forever home, there may be accidents while he gets used to a new house, new family, and new rules. It can be a lot for a dog all at once. Give him a little time to learn the ropes and he will make you proud! He is always looking for a chance to show what a good boy he can be.
Miles bonds quickly to his people – and wants to be with them ALL the time. He wants to help you cook breakfast, help you get the laundry out of the dryer, make the bed, and pay your bills – he is right there making sure you don’t need his guidance or input with anything. The downside of this velcro-clinging is that when his family leaves, he does have some separation anxiety. He is very vocal about his family not including him in whatever magical adventure is happening when they go out the front door…and he will share that misery with everyone around him. He will settle in, but it could take some time for him to wind back down. Because of this, Miles is not a good candidate for apartment living (unless you are home all the time!). He is not destructive when left alone – just sad because he is not part of whatever is going on. He feels that he should be the center of attention at all times; how can anything happen without him there??? He will perk right back up as soon as he sees you again. This dog is a lover – giving and receiving. He is a fur-covered love bubble.
Miles does well with other dogs at our adoption meet & greet events, as well as the other dogs in his foster home. He has not been tested with cats Miles is now neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. He has also had a dental and has been professionally groomed. His adoption fee is $300
