Learn more about the West Highland White Terrier Westie.

Little Miss Lorna Doone is ready for adoption! And believe us, this little lady lives up to her name. She is as sweet as a cookie! Lorna is a 4 year old Westie that was recently released from a breeder. She is adjusting very well to life in a home as part of a family.

Lorna absolutely loves every person she meets. From the oldest all the down to a 5 year old. Lorna has been known to push the other dogs in her foster home out of the way in order to get attention. Her favorite thing to do is whatever her foster family is doing! If they are sitting on the couch watching TV, Lorna is curled up on the pillow right next to them. If her mama is in the kitchen making dinner, Lorna is lying in her bed watching her mama, waiting for something to fall. If her family is outside, Lorna is outside as well. Lorna is a Velcro dog for sure. Even at bedtime, Lorna climbs the ramp into the big bed and sleeps on the pillow next to her mama. Lorna gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, but does not really play with them. She will once in a while but Lorna is too busy following her humans around. In the morning, or if they aren’t giving her the attention she wants, Lorna will rub on their legs like a cat asking for love. Lorna is excellent in the car and will sit there watching everything. She does not get car sick.  Lorna is not leashed trained. In fact, as soon as the leash is on her, she freezes. For this reason, a fenced in yard is required in her forever home. Sorry, no electric fences either. We are working on the leash training but it’s a slow process. In time that may improve but we can’t make promises on that.

Lorna is still working on her house training. She’s doing very well overall and knows what to do when she goes out. She even knows the word “outside” and associates it with going potty. Lorna just won’t tell you she has to go. She can make it overnight without having to go out, so you will definitely get a good night's rest. Lorna does also howl the first few times her family leaves her alone. Sometimes she will even howl when you take out the trash. An apartment would not be the right home for her. Lorna is not crated in her foster home. She is confined to the kitchen area when her family is away. A potty pad is left for her. Sometimes she will use it, but most of the time it’s still clean when they come home.

Lorna is now spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  She has also had a dental!  Her adoption fee is $450 If you think you can give this sweet girl a wonderful, make sure you apply today! You will be showered with lots of love and never feel alone!
