Patterdale Terrier (Fell Terrier) : : Male : : Young
Looking for an active friend that also knows how to snuggle and give amazing hugs? Look no further than our sweet boy Dublin, affectionately known as Dubs. Dublin was a local stray that found his way to the city shelter, so we do not know much about his past. We can tell you that his future is with a loving active family. Dublin is a great guy, who is the perfect combination of play and love. Dublin is crate trained and loves to go on adventures. He is excellent in the car and learning to walk properly on a leash. Dubs loves the walks and all the smells that the area has to offer. His nose is to the ground his entire walk. He's a dog that is ready to go go go. Dublin's forever home should have lots of toys for him to play with. He loves them all. It doesn't matter if it is a ball, or a rope, or a squeaker toy. He loves to shake them. If you are too busy to play with him, no worries, Dublin will play with the toys by himself. Dublin gets along great with other dogs. In fact, he is the most popular dog to play with in his foster him. He is a definite hunter, and true to the traditional terrier traits, Dublin would probably not do well in a home with other small animals such as cats, guinea pigs or pets of that nature. He is very curious about the other animals in his foster home and has been found standing on the homes of these smaller types of pets. After a day of play, Dublin will jump on the couch, into your lap, wrap his paws around your neck and give you his biggest hugs. He wants to make sure you know he is there. There is no way you can ignore him. Sometimes he is even a little too annoying when it comes to his affection. He is usually the first one in bed at the end of the day. You know what they say, Play hard, sleep hard. This is very true for Dublin as well. He will sleep all night and wake you with a kiss when it is time to wake up and let him outside. Dublin is working hard on his house training. He's not perfect yet but he is getting there. He has his signs, and if you ignore them, yes he will go in the house. The good news is, Dubs is very treat motivated and is eager to please his people so, with a routine, Dublin will continue t do well. He has been around kids as young as 8 and has done well. He is still working on his greeting manners and will jump on people, so smaller children may not be a good match for him. He may accidentally knock them down, and purposely steal their toys for himself. He is a bit of a toy hoarder. He puts them all in his crate. His foster mom found 10 in there just the other day. Anything to keep himself busy when in the crate while she is at work all day.
Dublin is currently up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, and treated for fleas/worms. He also tested negative for heartworm. We are requiring a spay/neuter contract to be signed at the time of his adoption (the cost of his neuter is included in his adoption fee and will be fully explained in the contract). If you think Dublin is the perfect match for you, make sure you apply today.
