Schipperke (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Small
Learn more about the Schipperke. Midnight is a 7-year-old Schkiperkee and about 12lbs. She came to us from Texas after her elderly owner passed away. Midnight has been in foster care for a few months as it appears she was never socialized in her prior home. She was extremely fearful of all the new changes in her life and needed some time to decompress and learn to love again. We think she is ready! Midnight is a ball of pure fluff! She does shed quite heavily and will need to be brushed regularly. Midnight is very loyal and affectionate to her family. Since she takes a while to warm up to people she will bark at company when they come and usually does not settle down until they leave. Midnight is fearful of children and the accessories that come with them aka Walker, bouncer, swing, and relentlessly barks and lunges at it. We have not tried her with an adult Walker but we imagine that would be the same so if you use any of the above Midnight would not be a match for you. Although not overly playful she does live with other dogs just fine. She loves dog beds and the ottoman in her foster home. She is very food-oriented and is an expert beggar, standing up on her back legs and everything. Unfortunately for Midnight, she did develop a pretty nasty case of pancreatitis and HGE requiring hospitalization about a month ago (cause unknown) so people food is off-limits to her! Midnight appears housebroken with a doggy door. She is crate trained and she will walk on a leash somewhat but she is a huge flight risk until she gets to know you so a securely fenced-in yard is required for her (no invisible fences). While in the yard she loves to chase squirrels and birds. She makes her rounds every day smelling the underside of the fence to see what critters visited the night before. She really enjoys being outside and neither rain or snow bothers her one bit. Midnight is a wonderful little dog once she gets to know you. It took weeks for her to come out of her shell in her foster home. She would stay outside and run from them any time they came near. We are hoping that the next transition is easier for her now that she feels safe and loved but we don’t know that for sure. Whoever adopts Midnight will need to be patient and know that it may not be an immediate bond but that bond will come. If you think this adorable girl is a match for you please apply! Midnight is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $450
