Chip, aka Chippy Dippy Doo, is a 2 year old spaniel mix that weighs about 16 pounds.  Chip all about the love. He can’t get close enough to the people he loves. Whether it be at your feet, or on your lap. He is very kind-hearted.  He is affectionate and confident and just loves life. He listens very well and loves to climb in your lap for pets.  He is not an overly energetic boy he kind of conforms to his environment.  If the dogs and people around him are excited and playing he will too but when everyone calms down for the night Chip will find him an empty spot on the couch or a dog bed to curl up in. He enjoys your time and love but if you are busy he will respect that too and go find something else to do or take a nap and wait for you.

He came to us heartworm positive and has successfully completed treatment.  Chip will need to remain on preventative year-round for his lifetime.  Chip originally came in with his brother Ripley back in Texas.  Ripley was adopted a few months ago but unfortunately, Chip had been hit by a car.  Chip sustained some pretty significant injury to his left hip and leg.  His leg is held together with pins and rods and he is surprisingly quite happy and mobile.  Chip can do anything any other dog can do just maybe not as fast or as well.  He does hold his one leg up a little when he runs so he almost runs on three legs and when he went in for his neuter they said they were unable to straighten it even under anesthesia.  Honestly, it doesn’t hold him back at all.  He does run and play with the other dogs, he wrestles, he can do stairs, get on the couch, he walks on a leash, plays with toys and chases squirrels.  Due to his previous run-in with a car, we would prefer he has a securely fenced-in yard in his new home.

We want to say Chip is housebroken but he did mark the first two days in his foster home.  After a few hard NO’s and a belly band, he stopped all that and can go without one now.  He has since learned the doggy door and he is very independent with that.  Chip does have a small amount of urinary incontinence from his accident. We have him checked out by our vet. Sadly we have been told it’s not something that can be repaired. It is a neurological condition.   If he gets excited he will dribble a few drops or if he is in a deep sleep he will wake up with a damp blanket in his crate.  We have found that Chip will wear a belly band proudly. This prevents any dripping when laying on your furniture. The belly band also allows Chip to sleep In bed with his foster mama. Which of course Chip loves to do. He loves to snuggle in real close initially, then he will move to the end of the bed all night. That being said, Chip does know when he has to go and he does go to the bathroom outside when let out.     Chip has been around a 9-year-old child and did very well. He is very gentle and loving.  We can not foresee any issues with anyone really he truly enjoys people. When he meets new people, Chip will sit, with his chest puffed out. He wants to make sure everyone notices him. And trust us, you can’t help but notice this handsome man.

Chip is fostered with dogs his size and smaller and we would prefer that for his forever home as it would be detrimental to Chip should he get hurt again. He has not been around cats but if you have a cat a home visit is required so we would make sure everyone got along then.  Although we think Chip is a spaniel he doesn’t require a ton of grooming like normal spaniels.  Regular brushing, a little trimming, and a bath like any other dog keep him looking quite dapper. He is not a yappy dog or a big barker.  When he does bark it's usually for a reason or he follows along with the other dogs.  He will however bark in a crate when you leave for the day for a few minutes but he settles down soon after.   If you think this little miracle would be safe and forever loved with you please apply.  He obviously remained here on earth for a reason and we are so happy to be able to help him with this second chance at a happy life with a loving family.  Chip is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated.  His adoption fee is $400.
