Our sweet little Coco bean is ready for his forever home. Coco definitely lives up to him name, he is the sweetest little guy. Coco was surrendered to our partners down in Texas. One look at him and they knew immediately that Coco needed to find his forever home here, in WNY.

Coco is a little shy at first. He would do best with an owner who does not mind putting in a little effort, in exchange for a lot of love. Coco loves his foster mama and is never far behind her. In fact, his favorite thing to do is sit with her on the couch or climb under the blankets with her at night. He is a complete Velcro dog. Coco can handle being on his own while you are at work, but once you are home, his family is the center of his world. There is no way he will let them out of his sight, even for a minute. If his family is outside by the fire, there’s Coco right next to them, or in someone’s lap. Coco loves to run in the backyard. He will run in circles, as fast as his little legs will go, then plop down on the deck to sun himself. Then do it all over again in a matter of minutes.

Coco gets along with other dogs but can be a little persnickety at times. He prefers the company of other small dogs compared to those that are larger. He likes to exert his dominance by guarding his dog bed against the other dogs. If they try to climb into his bed with them, he will growl and snap at them, but otherwise, he is a laid-back guy who is just insecure. If there is another dog in his forever home, it should be one that is laid back and can handle being bossed around a bit.  A dog that can give another dog space to adapt to a new home and new changes. Coco has no problem laying on the couch with the other dogs but needs time and space. It’s clear Coco wants to play but he isn’t sure how to show the other dogs that he wants to.

Coco needs guidance and reassurance that he is safe in your home. When you reach to pick him, Coco will hunker down as if you will hurt him, but will relax once you pick him up. Coco is fully crate trained but he is still learning about the leash.  His foster family is practicing his leash training, so a fenced yard is required for Coco, no electric fences, please. Coco is excellent in the car and will sit in the back quiet as a mouse. He's so good, it’s easy to forget that he’s even there. In fact, Coco is quiet most of the time. He’s not a big barker but will alert you when someone is coming in the home. Coco has been around kids as young as 8. Due to his reserved nature, a home with kids that are older would be best for him. Coco has many great qualities, it will be up to his forever family to help him discover the confidence to continue to grow.  If you think Coco is a match for you, make sure you apply today.

Coco is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $400
