The Famous (or should we say Infamous!) Kobe is available for adoption!  If you follow any of the local animal lost and found pages on Facebook, you will likely recognize Kobe from his many appearances there!  Eventually his weary owners surrendered him to our city shelter where he was adopted out but he was a little too much for his owner to handle.  When our shelter friends reached out to us - we happily took him on!  We LOVE Shibas!!   We are happy that Kobe has finally made it to rescue to help him find his forever home.  

Kobe is quite a character.  He is super smart, bold and confident.  He is also very stubborn and will definitely show you how much when it's time to come inside!  Kobe is a loyal dog, he loves his foster mom a lot but we know he is able to transfer that love to a new person.  He is food motivated which has been a great training tool with him.  He walks great on a leash and is crate trained.  He runs right in when it's time and gets his treat!  Kobe is house trained but please expect some adjustment time.  Kobe has great energy when he is outside but is a calm dog when he is inside.  His breed has a natural prey drive so no cats or small animals in his future home.  He is very interested in the cats in his foster home and we do not think he will do well with them in another home.  He is good with other dogs but he can play rough so if there is another dog, it should be at least his size or bigger.  Kobe will need a good daily workout - whether is playing outside or a long walk!  He can on occasion be barky - usually when he disagrees with his foster mom!  Kobe has been around older kids in his foster home but we understand that he lived with all ages in his past home.  Kobe will require a fully fenced yard (NO INVISIBLE OR ELECTRIC FENCES).  We prefer that there be a door from the house leading out the yard.  He is an escape artist and has been very lucky so far in his adventures all over the city so we are are being as careful as possible!  He is very concerned when his foster mom leaves the fenced  yard and looks for ways to get to her so his new family will need to be diligent on keeping him safe in the yard.  We also think that when he does get out, he thinks it's all a game and everyone is playing freeze tag with him so he is off like a shot!   Kobe is an amazing dog that will keep you entertained and on your toes!  We are in no rush to place Kobe - we want to make sure he gets the right home this time!  

Kobe is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  His adoption fee is $500.  Kobe will be at our event on 6/26 at Flying Bison Brewery for meet and greets only unless his perfect home comes along before that!
