Learn more about the Dachshund. Learn more about the Chihuahua. Harley is looking for his perfect family. We don’t know much about his past but we know that whoever adopts him is getting one heck of a dog! Harley is a 2 year old doxie chihuahua mix. If you are looking for a little dog with character and a sense of humor, Harley is your guy!
Harley came to us from a shelter in Texas. Being a young adult his chances of being adopted was slim. One look at his face and we knew we had to help him. Harley gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home and has been around kids as young as 8 with no issues. He has not been around cats so we are unsure of how he will respond to them . Harley is crate trained and doing excellent on the house training. He will mark the house, or at least try, when he first enters a new place but that quickly stops especially with a firm “no”. Harley loves to be outside and will often try to push the door open to go outside. He is completely crate trained. So when you are at work, Harley is perfectly content to lay in his bed in the crate. He is also learning to walk on a leash. Harley does have a few requirements though. For starters, there must be a variety of blankets for him to roll up in his new home. Harley has been known to dive bomb into the blankets. He will burrow so deep in them that he gets all twisted up. At night Harley is under the covers all the way at the foot of the bed. Secondly, there must be an abundance of squeaky toys for him. Whether you want to throw the toy, or if he opts to play alone, squeaky toys are needed. He will quickly find that squeaker and squeak it all day. Want to get his attention, squeak a toy and Harley will come running. If he’s laying in his bed, call Harley and he will come running up on the couch, roll across you lap, flip upside down and ask for belly rubs. Immediately followed by kisses. Harley has the cutest underbite, just be careful because when he starts with the kisses, his teeth might just snag you. He doesn’t mean anything by it, he just gets over zealous with his love. Harley does have a deep bark, you definitely will not expect the bark that comes out of his little body. Don’t worry though he’s doesn’t bark unnecessarily. When he does bark it’s because someone is coming in the house or walking by. It’s all appropriate bark. Harley also knows what he can and cannot play with. He is not about to chew your furniture. Only toys and balls. Oh yea those rolly things are a lot of fun. If you think that Harley can provide the entertainment needed to make you smile all day, be sure to apply today. Harley is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, and tested neg. for heartworm. His adoption fee is $400
