We know what you really, really want – look out Western New York – the Spice Girls have landed!

At the end of 2020, Mama Spice went under the porch of an elderly gentleman to give birth.  The area experienced a flood and the mom and her babies were lost.  Once the water receded, the elderly gentleman went in search of the small family.  He recovered all of them and brought them into his home.  Weakened from giving birth and sick from exposure to the elements, Mama Spice died within 24 hours of being found.  Knowing he would be unable to care for 4 tiny babies, this kind elderly gentleman surrendered them to our rescue partners in Texas.  These small orphans arrived at Pixie Mamas at the end of January, all weighing under 3 lbs., weak, and full of loss and confusion without their mom.  In the weeks that followed, however, they grew healthy and strong and are now ready to begin their lives here in New York.

We believe they are lab mixes and will be medium-sized dogs when they are full grown.

Sporty is the tiniest baby in the litter.  Although she shares the deep, rusted-rose coloring as her sisters, Sporty’s fur is longer and fuller.  She does not let her size limit her.  She is cautious, but determined!  She was the last one to venture outside – she hovered on the back step for days, weighing her options.  But once she had decided to join the group, nothing was going to get in her way.  She never wants to come inside and will stop dead in her tracks to listen to the birds.  Nothing seems impossible to her and she races out of bed each morning to tackle her day.  She is very affectionate and loves to be cradled and held.  She plays with her sisters and the other dogs in her foster home, but she really wants to be in someone’s lap. 

Sporty has seen the other dogs in the house use potty pads while their foster mom is at work.  She is doing well copying them, but it is a work in progress. She is eager to please and eager to be part of the family.  If going to the bathroom on the potty pad gets you into the cool kids club – then Sporty is 100% on board! 

As a puppy she is a blank slate – she is a sponge absorbing everything around her at all times.  She will need training to be her best self.  Please be patient while she is learning – she is still a baby and lost her mama very early in her life.  Her life experiences so far are a rag-tag, patchwork quilt sewn together with lots of love, but you need to know that some pieces may be the wrong size, and some pieces may be missing entirely.   She needs love, attention, and patience as she now has the opportunity and ability to become the beautiful dog she is meant to be.

Sporty is scheduled to be spayed on April 9th but we are accepting applications now.  She will be spayed, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $400
