Pixie Mamas would like to introduce our “American Icon” litter.  What is an American Icon?  Someone you know by just a first name.  Someone instantly recognized across the country – and the world.  Someone who has excelled in a particular field and has reached the top of the ladder.  Trust us, you know one when you see one!

This litter was found with their mom roaming the streets of Texas – thin, weak, and infested with sarcoptic mange.  This is a very painful condition, usually found in wild fox and coyotes.  It was a long, hard road for them to get healthy again.  Weeks of special baths.  Multiple skin treatments to kill the parasites that had overtaken their tiny bodies.  This litter is a group of fighters and after months of battle, our vets have deemed them healthy & fit for adoption.  They are ready for their forever homes!

“Here’s lookin’ at you, kid”

-        Rick Blaine, “Casablanca”, 1942

One of the greatest movies ever made – starring Humphrey Bogart, voted the Greatest Male Star of Classic American Cinema by the American Film Institute.  The original founder and obvious leader of the infamous “Rat Pack” of the 1960s.  The original smooth operator.  The strong silent type.  Tall, dark and handsome.  We can go on, but we had you with his name – no further explanation is necessary.

Our Bogart has the tall, dark and handsome thing locked down. He has the softest, sleek black fur and stunning blue eyes.  Only his littermate Sinatra can compete against these baby blues!  He has white & black paws, a throw-back to the spat-style, swing-dance style shoes worn in the 1940s.  The white patch on his chest has some black dots – it’s the fur version of a man’s formal tuxedo dress shirt.  He looks every bit the part of the anti-hero we all cheer for in the movies.

Bogart is the 2nd largest in the litter and is not above throwing his weight around when he feels he is not getting enough attention.  At the same time, however, he obviously plays more gently with his smaller siblings to give them a chance to win a wrestling match.  He shares the sunlight and keeps the peace.  He has a lot of energy, which needs to be burnt off before he is ready for a long cuddle on the couch.  He loves to have you throw toys for him, but he won’t bring them back to you.  He will carry them off and hide them away for future use.  He needs some work on his fetch game.

Bogart does well in the bath – he loves to be pampered.  With fur so soft, once someone has held him, he is always the first choice to be held again.  He enjoys attention and wants to be with his people.  He will join you in the bathroom and attempt to lick your ankles and calves dry faster than you can towel them off.  He wants to be involved in everything – from filling the food dishes, to making the bed, to choosing a television program for you both to watch.  He is a well-rounded little guy: equal parts outdoor rough-and-tumble and indoor cuddle master.

Bogart has a fenced in yard at his foster mama’s house and loves to be outside, often trying to stay out once everyone else has come back in. He has been working on going potty outside as well as on potty pads during the day because his foster mom works.  He is making great progress, but there may be accidents as he adjusts to the rules and routine of a new home.

As a puppy he is blank slate – he is a sponge absorbing everything around him at all times.  He will need training to be his best self.  Please be patient while he is learning – he is still a baby.  He needs love, attention, and patience to be successful.

Bogart is up to date with age appropriate vaccines, flea/worm treated and microchipped and has been seen by a vet.  We are unable to get him neutered prior to adoption. Therefore we are requiring a spay/neuter contract to be signed at the time of adoption (the cost of his neuter is included in the adoption fee and fully explained in the contract). His appt is scheduled for December 14th.  His adoption fee is $400
