Look at those legs! That is the first thing everyone says when they meet this beauty. Victoria was found as a stray in Texas, trying desperately to care for herself and her 4 puppies. All of them were thin, weak, and infected with sarcoptic mange. This is a very painful condition usually seen in wild fox and coyotes. Victoria was blessed to have been rescued (with her pups) and after months of special baths and required medications, Victoria is now strong and healthy – she is a new woman on all levels.
Victoria is chihuahua mix, approximately 2 years old with the body of a ballerina. Long legs, tiny waist, delicate paws, and graceful movements at all times. She has unique tri-color markings: midnight black, golden caramel, and a snow-white stripe on her chest. Her fur is seal-sleek and tight to her body, with an Indiana-Jones-whip-tip tail. When she is truly content, she sleeps on her back with all 4 legs straight up in the air!
Victoria has been an amazing mother – loving, attentive, and protective. As her pups became less dependent, she has shown these same traits to her people. She is ready to snuggle up in bed or on the couch. She is ready to stand guard at the window, casting a very regal silhouette on the living room curtains as she protects her home from any danger that passes too close to her door. When she opens her mouth, you will be impressed - there is a big bark in that little body!
She currently has high anxiety with the leash. We are doing much better allowing the harness to be placed around her body, but once the leash comes into play, she begins to panic. Having come from the streets and never being confined in such a fashion, significant work will be required for successful leash training. For this reason, Victoria would do best in a home with a fenced in yard.
Victoria gets along well with other dogs and loves to be part of the pack – running, playing, chasing, even eating…she is never one to take over, she is just so happy to be included with other dogs. After much consideration, she will gently take treats. She is obviously trying to acclimate to a new relationship with humans – and this one will be based upon trust. She has some work to do, but has come leap years from where she began when she arrived in Western New York.
Her foster mama works, so Victoria has become familiar with potty pads & is getting very proficient at their use. She will also go outside to potty with the other dogs, but she won’t want you to see her. In true modesty, she will position herself behind a bush or around the corner of the house to do her business – she is such a little lady!
Victoria had a very difficult start in life, but she is learning to trust and her inner beauty has begun to blossom. She herself is just now learning what love is all about – and she has so much love to give the right family. She has not been tested with children or cats.
Victoria is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $400
