Handsome Chico is now available for adoption! Chico was found as a stray locally and needed rescue to get him on the road to a new life. He is about 5 years old and maybe around 10 pounds. We believe he is some sort of poodle mix - maybe with chihuahua? He is as quirky as he looks!

Chico was found matted and was shaved when he was neutered. But we found out he did great when he was recently professionally groomed - just a wiggle butt! His foster mom can brush him and cut his nails with no issue. We don't believe he was treated very nicely in his previous life and it took him awhile to trust his foster mom and learn some basic manners. Initially, he could be untrusting if things moved too fast for him. He just needed time and patience and someone to teach him people could be trusted. Now after months of time and patience, we believe he is ready to move on to his forever home. He loves meeting new people now and wants to be picked up and be held - he loves to give kisses! He is "mouthy" when he plays - he likes to playfully grab your hand as part of the game and we are trying to break him of this habit. He has quite a big bark and does bark when he gets excited. He is playful with other dogs but it's on his terms. He loves to play outside with them, chasing them around. He will snap occasionally if a smaller dog tries to cuddle with him and on occasion when they walk by when he is eating - this happens very rarely now but needs to be mentioned. We think he would do better with bigger dogs - he got his butt kicked a few times and he backs down lol. We also do not think young kids would be good for him either, just in case. He will bark at cats but that's because other dogs do. Apartments are not ideal for him. Chico walks on a leash and is crate trained. He is still working on his housetraining. A fenced yard is preferred. He is smart and is willing to learn. Chico will need a kind and patient owner that will understand his quirks and let him continue to blossom at his own speed.

Chico is neutered, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. His adoption fee is $350
