Sparkles is ready for adoption! She is an adorable Yorkshire Terrier, about 5 years old, and weighs 8 pounds. Sparkles was bounced around a bit before landing at the City Shelter, and she clearly needed rescue. Well, we like a good challenge at Pixie Mamas! Although we would like to say Sparkles would do well in any home, that is not the case. This spirited girl needs a specific house and owner, so please read her profile in full!
Oh, Sparkles (affectionately known as Spackles to her foster mom!) is a feisty girl! She is fiercely loyal to her person and loves them unconditionally. Sparkles embodies everything a Yorkie is supposed to be - bold, confident, intelligent and courageous. Sparkles is housetrained; she will potty the minute she gets out the door. And she will use potty pads if necessary. Please expect adjustment time for her to get into her new routine. Sparkles loves to go for walks but will bark at oncoming dogs and people. She does not want to be pet by strangers either, only those that know and love her. She will sit behind her foster mom in her chair as she works from home or right next to her feet, hoping for a belly rub! Sparkles is vocal - so no apartments or condos. She is a bossy B with other dogs - she wants them to know who's in charge and yells at them to get her point across. Same for cats. She isn't aggressive, just bossy and over the top about it. When we first met Sparkles at the shelter, she wasn't letting anyone handle her. We gave her the time and patience for her to start to trust people again. Now when her foster mom has people over, she is very affectionate with people and will even ask to be picked up to give kisses! Yes, she barks when people arrive but will quiet down. She is not going to change that part of her personality! Nothing is overnight, but it is a huge step for Sparkles, a dog that surely would not have made it out of the shelter. Sparkles should be in a child-free home. She would love a fenced in yard too. Sparkles needs an owner with some terrier experience and understanding of the breed. She needs time to adjust and trust people. She has not been exposed to men in her foster home so we do not know how she will react to them.  We will not set her up for failure again - she is a great little dog waiting for the right home! 
Sparkles is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. She also had dental and feels like a million bucks now! Sparkles adoption fee is $400
