Bugsy is not a girlie-girl name, yet this little lady is all woman.

She won't curl up in your lap.  Her version of cuddling is a hard lean into you and a solid head butt,  like a cat.

She fully believes that smooth floors are out to get her and she avoids them as much as possible – but she will run like the wind on the carpet, rough tile, or the grass, concrete & blacktop outside.

She doesn’t bark much, but when she gets excited her barks end with a bit of a howl.

Bugsy loves to sleep on the bed, but in her own style.  No blanket burrowing for our Bugsy – she sleeps in the pillowcase.  On top of the pillow – but deep inside the case.  You can only tell head from tail by the shape of the lump!

All of these little contradictions pile up into one great big ball of awkward.  Just plain awkward.

Lucky for Bugsy, our society LOVES awkward, different, and eccentric.  The world adores the weirdos – all of us oddballs are currently having a moment in the sun!

Bugsy came to Pixie Mamas when her elderly owner went into a nursing home.  She is 8 years old and approximately 12 lbs.  Bugsy rides well in the car, tongue lolling out, watching the world go by as she tracks her surroundings.  She is fabulous when she gets a bath – completely gets into all the scrubbing.  She is not one to turn down a good scratch!

At 8 years old, Bugsy makes it through the entire night with no potty needs.  No middle of the night trips outside with our Bugsy.  Once she is down in her pillowcase, she is down till you actually physically wake her up.  Please be aware that there may be accidents once she is in her new home.  She will need to learn a new routine, please be patient with her.

Bugsy does well with the other dogs in her foster home.  She will do her unique gargling-type growl if they get too close to her, especially if she is eating.  There is no food aggression with her humans, but she will make it clear to her 4-legged companions that her food dish is HERS.  She does not share well.  People food is not recommended for dogs in general, but we know from experience that if Bugs eats people food, it upsets her digestion and you will have a sick baby on your hands.

Bugsy has a fenced in yard at her foster mom’s house, but she is learning the leash.  She is doing well, but is nervous.  It is 3 steps forward, then right back to the ankle of her person.  She needs to know where you are and wants to be right beside you.  As her confidence builds, she will get better at the leash.

Bugsy is shy with new people and has not been tested with children.  As her owner was elderly, loud quick movements make her anxious.  Strangers reaching over her head to touch her also make her anxious.  Take it slow, hand out flat for a chin scratch and some patience is the way to introduce.  Everyone who has visited her at her foster home – who take the time for her to adjust – are always rewarded with their own awkward head-butt cuddle before they leave her.

For the ones who enjoy uniqueness, celebrate oddness, and march to the beat of their own drummer – Bugsy is the doggie for you!

Bugsy is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $350
