Pekingese / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (long coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Small
Learn more about the Pekingese. Isn’t our little Annie the cutest? She is another that came to us from a local shelter, amidst the craziness of the virus. We know the dogs can't sit in kennels with little to no social interaction for extended periods of time so we scooped this little one right up and out the door! Annie is about 2 years old and weighs 10 pounds. She is a Pekapoo and cute as a button. Annie is a very sweet but insecure young girl. She came from a home that was more active than what she could handle, with many children always pulling and tugging on her. Annie is looking for a quiet, adult only home, where she can relax and decompress. She is housebroken and crate trained. Annie loves to go for walks but is leery when you initially approach her to put her leash on. So we feel a home with a fenced-in yard would be best. It seems that Annie is most nervous when you reach over her head quickly. Annie will duck her head, cower and turn her head quickly. But if you let her smell you, and start under her chin, she will relax and let you rub her belly all day. Annie is a young playful girl. She likes toys and to roll on the couch and rug. She enjoys sitting outside in the sun and letting the wind blow through her fur.
We were also told that Annie does not enjoy being groomed. She will let her owner put a muzzle on her when taking her in, make sure you do that and not a stranger. She will need regular grooming throughout her life so please take that into consideration. Annie really just needs someone who continues to work with her and change the negative experiences she has had, into positive ones. That should be easy since Annie loves treats! Every time her foster mama does something new with her or does something Annie has a history of not liking, treats are involved. Annie has a big bark and lets you know when something or someone is around that shouldn't be. Apartments are not ideal. Annie is not used to cats and barks at them too. Annie is still young and learning every day. If you have the time, patience, and experience to help Annie, please make sure you apply! Annie is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, tested neg. for heartworm and flea/worm treated. Her adoption fee is $400
