Learn more about the Chihuahua. Everyone’s favorite character from “Game of Bones” – Lady Arya of House Bark – is now available for adoption! Arya is a 2-year-old chihuahua/terrier mix. She is a local girl, rescued from a Western New York shelter and she is ready for her new forever home. Her fur is black as night, with beautiful earth tones of tan, cream and brown. A secret is revealed when you run your hand against her fur – only the tips of her fur are black! Beneath the black, the fur is a pure, winter-white. A hidden example of the magic of the North, perhaps? She is leash trained & loves to tour the neighborhood. She goes potty outside & has been seen multiple times standing by the back door of her foster mom’s house to be let out. She loves to be the center of attention & she will bark if she feels you are not focusing upon her magnificence enough. She has strong opinions. She is the leader of her canine pack but certainly takes direction from her human. Arya is an expert snuggler, nestling her head under your chin or squeezing herself right up next to your body in the tiniest space. She loves to be on anyone’s lap, watching television or while you read or surf online. She does great in the car, smiling broadly at all the drive-thru folks and making friends everywhere she goes. She loves people. She licked her foster mom’s nose as soon as she came out of her cage in the shelter. She climbed into her foster grandpa’s lap & was sound asleep there only 30 minutes after meeting him. She enjoys a bath & did not try to jump out of the kitchen sink – even though she is tall enough to do so. She was well-behaved at the grooming salon when she got her nails clipped. No drama, no struggling – just the perfect little lady. She has been known to escape a normal collar as well as a traditional buckle harness. She dips her shoulders and pops right out. In order to prevent a merry chase, a martingale collar should be used when she goes outside on the leash. Arya would do best as an only dog. She can be dog selective and we just want to ensure everyone's happy! A fenced yard may be helpful but is not required if the proper collar/harness is used. Even in a fenced yard, she should be watched. With her long legs and thin, powerful body she can seriously jump…and climbing has been attempted with chain link. She is a spunky, adventurous girl who doesn’t want to admit there are any limits. Arya is confident, loyal, loving, well-behaved, gorgeous to look at (with such a curly tail!) and protective of her people. She gives all of this freely – asking in return only a loving, forever home. Are you the one to provide it? Arya is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and tested neg. for heartworm. Her adoption fee is $350
