Sophie Mae! This girl is a lovely one - a plug in dog! She is a 13 year young Lhasa Apso - with lots of love left to give! Sophie was originally surrendered to a shelter by her family because she had bladder stones and they were unable to afford the surgery. She has since had the surgery as well as a liver ultrasound to try to determine the source. The ultrasound looked good other then some sludge in the gall bladder. She was then adopted by a wonderful woman who was again forced to surrender Sophie due to a medical emergency. Once surrendered we noticed fairly quick there was something very wrong with this girl. She went to the vet and it was determined that Sophie again had bladder stones and required surgery. At that time she had her bloodwork repeated which shows some concern for her liver! Sophie had a successful surgery, is on special food for her bladder and Denmarin for her liver. The great news is she had her recheck done and the Denamarin is doing its job. Her liver values have returned to normal and everything else was within normal limits. The Denamarin is a prescription drug and runs about 30 dollars a month. It is given once a day in the morning about an hour before she eats and Sophie takes it without any difficulty. Sophie has always been a well loved pet and is very well behaved. Sophie gets along with other dogs and cats. She would be ok with older kids that are respectful of her age. She also has a torn acl but due to her age and mild severity of the tear, it was not recommended it be fixed. In addition she has a lump on her leg which the vet said was a fatty tumor and no treatment was required. She is able to walk on a leash and absolutely loves to do so. She likes car rides and is very quiet and well behaved. She does limp every now and then but otherwise it does not seem to bother her at all. Sophie is housebroken but expect some accidents in the transition to her new home. Sophie is a nice little dog who just wants to sit by your side. She's mostly quiet and would make a good little buddy for someone. She has always been a pampered pet and would like that life again. Don’t let her age discourage you as she is really a good girl and deserves her happy ever after. Sophie is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated, heartworm neg and has been given a dental. She will be groomed before she is adopted so she will look spectacular! Please note that Lhasas needs regular grooming about every 8 weeks or so. Please take that into consideration before you apply.
