Learn more about the Chihuahua. Contact BG's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Foster TA-DA! Here is a very special little dog- Baby Girl, or BG for short! She is the sweetest little Texas rosebud you are ever going to find. Her birthdate is 9-19-16 and she is a Chihuahua mix, about twelve pounds. She may be part-dachshunds and part mini-pin. If you are looking for a very well-behaved, house-trained, sweet little girl—here she is! It took a few days before she took her place in our pack of three, (also an old cat), and she fit right in. She is happiest on your lap and playing gently with the other dogs. She was on the lap of visiting children in minutes. We’re hoping for a family that will always be very gentle with her. She is a very passive and affectionate little creature. Any family that adopts her will get so much back in kisses, snuggling and devotion.
She’s been fostering for a few months because she had to undergo her spay and heartworm treatment. She came through like a trooper, but anyone who adopts Baby Girl will have to treat her with heartworm preventative for the rest of her life.
In foster, she primarily only barks to let you know she does not care for kennels whatsoever, and so a home that will not kennel her would be best. She does bark at squirrels but for the most part, she is happy to lay quietly on the couch with the other dogs. She prefers to be with the pack. She is also very expert at removing her collar, so you must use a full-body harness.
She does love to play with other dogs so a family with another small, young dog is ideal. She is fine with the cat, although she did bark at first. These dogs are prone to back problems and a family that will always monitor her weight to keep her trim is required. She shouldn’t jump off beds or high furniture, either.
She slept quietly all night in someone’s arms or under the covers with the other three dogs on our bed her whole visit here. She wants to be snuggled under the covers.
Texas girls with hair and not fur have to have protection from the cold! BRRRR says BG but then, on with a coat it’s- “Let’s explore!” Like any hound, she will use her perfect sense of smell to follow a track. Even with a fenced yard, I would watch BG when I had her outside. She has learned very easily to sit, give me your paw, and “My door” for waiting at doors. She will bring so much affection, enthusiasm and fun to your family. This dog truly was someone’s treasured pet, she is house-trained and very well socialized with people.
The foster had to keep her enthusiasm under wraps until her heartworm treatment is finished, but she has shown great interest in walks and play. She loves her toys and dog pals. If you can promise to treat BG with love, caring, keep her trim and always deliver her monthly meds, please fill out an application. BG is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and completed heartworm treatment. Please keep in mind that BG will need to remain on monthly heartworm prevenitive for the rest of her life. Her adoption fee is $350.
