Sometimes you feel like a nut…sometimes you don’t! 

We know you are going to go nuts over our little Hazel!  Hazel came to Pixie Mamas from Texas when her family could no longer care for her.  She is brand new to Western New York – and our weather!  She is very curious & outgoing and within a few days she was already acting like a Buffalo-born snow dog!

Hazel is a 10-month-old chihuahua mix.  Her fur is thick and velvety soft. Her markings are extremely unique – she has the coat-style of a pinto horse, with gorgeous rusted-rose colored jigsaw puzzle pieces scattered carelessly across her back.  Her tummy is speckled like a chocolate chip cookie.  Polka dots everywhere. One of her most endearing features: she has a bubble-gum pink landing strip along the center of her nose – such a magnet for baby kisses!  She loves to get kisses and loves to give kisses.  Her legs are solid & stocky, her tail curls up into a loop to rest on her back or swings like a propeller when she is happy.  And those ears – what can we even say about those ears?!?

Hazel gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home.  She loves to play, shares her toys, and sleeps nestled deep with her fur siblings when they nap during the day.  She does sometimes push the envelope (not everyone wants to play 24 hours a day!) but once she has been corrected, she respects the new boundary.  She has a very gentle & loving disposition.  She has not been tested with children.  However, respectful kids who are aware of her small size (and the care required because she is so small) should have no issues.  She also has not been tested with cats. 

Hazel loves to be with her people.  She wants to be held & cuddled.  She wants to be part of the rhythm of your home.  She supervises when you make dinner.  She watches from the doorway when you shower to make sure you come out safe from behind that curtain.  She will follow along behind you when you check to make sure the doors are locked before bedtime.  She will sleep as close to you as possible – don’t be surprised if you find her cuddled up under your chin when you wake up in the morning! Consider her your right-hand dog: the peanut butter to your jelly, the extra pepperoni on your pizza, the bleu cheese to your chicken wings.  Wherever you are, that is where she wants to be.  She is a beautiful shadow with a wagging tail.

Hazel is learning about potty pads since her foster mom works and doing pretty good.  Her foster mom has a fenced-in yard, so she races outside with the other dogs without hesitation to do her business.  She loves to be outside.  She is working on her leash training – and doing wonderfully!  The spirit of adventure drives her – she wants to know everything and be everywhere at once.  This is such a big world and she is so excited to be part of it! She is a fur-covered love bubble looking for her forever home.  

Hazel is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped and tested neg. for heartworm.  Her adoption fee is $400
